CROATIA'S BEAUTY

Untouched Mediterranean

Come and join us for a rejuvenating week of Yoga, Pilates, Croatia's beauty, sun and delicious food in a nice company of fellow yogi practitioners

Croatia

Croatia’s Adriatic Coast is known to travellers and admirers’ of its natural beauty and its rich cultural legacy that each conquering kingdom throughout the history has left behind.
It has over thousand + islands, clean air and sapphire like crystal clear sea waters in the shade of ancient walled towns.

Istria

Istria is the largest peninsula, with inland Istria (where Bale is situated) as an area of rare and disarming beauty, characterized by medieval hilltop settlements and stone-built villages.

ESSENTIAL INFO

What do you need to know about this trip

Accommmodation

7 nights in Bale. We are staying in apartments called "Kamene Price" (Stone's Tales), and neighbouring close by apartments. Kamene Price is a Bale's famous historic building dating back to 18th century, build 1250 years ago. It's quirky, home-feel like place with a great energy and vibe.
Apartments are self serviced, however you can request clean towels and linen if and when needed. It's very laid back in terms of housekeeping, similar as you'd have it in your own home. But if you need anything - just ask.

Food

Our host will prepare a rich and varied breakfast for us every morning after our yoga practice with fresh organic produce from local farmers! Your package includes breakfast only, having in mind the dynamics of our schedule and giving you enough space and time to explore other options.
Since we are staying in apartments with a well equiped kitchenette there will be a possibility to prepare something on your own if you wish to do so.
Dinner will be out in Bale or at places that will go to on our day trips. It's a great opportunity to sample delicious food from local gastro restaurants.
Also, note that, in a spirit of this yoga holiday, and to respect our individual free time, choice will be yours to join the group for dinner/lunch since we will be all respecting our free time and how we wish to spend it.

Yoga practice

We will have two hours + of a morning practice - Hatha Style; Yin/Yang, Yogalates or Partner Yoga. Since we are a small group I will be open to your requests and I will plan our practice to include your desires.
In the afternoon we will have an hour practice in more restorative style, which will rejuvenate and restore your energies, leaving you peaceful, calm, and align with everything that is.

Day trips

We will take two days out of our schedule (departing after our morning yoga practice) to explore beautiful Croatian’s spots - stunning Rovinj and the nature resort Brijuni.
Rovinj is a picturesque Istrian fishing harbour. The 14 islands of the Rovinj archipelago make for a pleasant afternoon away; the most popular are Sveta Katarina and Crveni Otok (Red Island), also known as Sveti Andrija. Rovinj’s mainland and islands with its natural sights have been described as "outstanding scenic wonders," because of the pristine beauty especially at the sunset time.
We are also going to pay a visit to Brijuni. The Brijuni (Brioni in Italian) archipelago consists of two main pine-covered islands (that give out divine smell of pine trees!) and 12 islets around it. Covered by meadows, parks and oak and laurel forests – and some rare plants such as wild cucumber and marine poppy – the islands were pronounced a national park in 1983.

Entertainment

Town Bale, is famous for its Jazz Festival (in August), called ‘Last Minute Jazz Festival’, and it’s no surprise to see an art performance or a jazz jam session on the streets throughout the summer; so hopefully, we’ll get to enjoy some classy music under the stars on a warm summer’s Croatian night!
In the evening we will have an opportunity to sample gourmand Croatian food among choices of restaurants that serve fresh and delicious food and enjoy beautiful, warm atmosphere of the area. Also, there will be enough hours in the day to enjoy swimming in the crystal clear Adriatic Sea, which is deliciously refreshing on summer hot days, so please don’t forget your beach kit! If you fancy hiking, there is a marked hiking track that leads to the little hill and its possible to see the whole Bale from that spot. There are also bikes to rent in the village if you fancy going for the bike ride.

LOGISTICS

Where, when, how...

Cost

This year as well as last year we are all hit by Brexit drama. I have decided to keep the same price as last year which was calculated on Euro/Kuna/Pound currency exchange and same as the last year I’ve decided not to charge the full price for my yoga classes, but rather make this yoga holiday available as much as possible to all of us.

Testimonials

Impressions from the previous retreats

"That was exactly what I needed. The scenery is staying - a little historic village of Bale-Valle. The yoga studio is amazing, comfortable and offering a wonderful view. The Yoga sessions were tailor made to our abilities and needs. Most importantly - it was fun, fun, fun".

Kasia, Sept. 2016

“It was an excellent experience. Great balance between yoga practice and typical holiday. The towns we visited Pula and Rovinj were very interesting. I also enjoyed the cycle hire and making a trip to nearby villages.”

James, July 2014

“What I liked the most in the yoga practice was Pranayama and restorative postures. Felt in love with the sky.”

Piedad, July 2014

"I have been very fortunate, blessed and honoured to have made part of this enlightening 'life journey'. Paula's personality is one that suits a true yoga ambassador. The teachings received were extended to the knowledge of our body and the heart! Yoga for the body as well as nurturing of our minds that are contaminated by our busy city lifestyle. A true pampering of the body, mind and soul!"

Angela, Sept. 2016

"This was my second yoga-pilates retreat in Bale. I would say the same thing to my friends as I've been saying for the last two years; it is one of the most replenishing and restorative weeks I've spent in my life."

Sira, Sept. 2016

"What I would tell my friends about the week I've spent here? - Good experience, beautiful surroundings and very nice people in the group and those looking after us."

Luisa, July 2014

"I would say that I've been lucky enough to spend a truly magnificent week in a beautiful village off the beaten track , learning about myself, practicing yoga in a unique setting with n inspirational teacher who radiates, visiting amazing places and feeling energised but at the same time serene."

About
PAULA and VIDAYOGA

"there is no perfect yoga posture… it's so very individual"

Paula Vidakovic is a founder and CEO of Vidayoga Ltd. She created Vidayoga in 2008 guided by principles of life: Breath, Alignment, Strength and Balance. Her personal driving force is a desire for people to get more supple, fitter, nurtured and get stronger in mind and body through this beautiful holistic discipline of yoga.

Growing up, Paula played a lot of sports, having a go at everything that was available in her home town Zagreb, Croatia – tennis, ice-skating, swimming, basketball, chess, skiing and competed in table tennis at a regional level. In her late twenties, she found herself studying media and journalism, but after graduating with Masters and landing a job with the Associated Press she realised that her love for yoga was too strong and decided to take it as a full time occupation.

In her 20 years of practicing with prominent experts in yoga's holistic field and 11 years of full time teaching she has developed a unique style that integrates wisdom of yoga philosophy and applied anatomy. Specific focus is on individual alignment and the yogic breath as a channel that supports movement. Without breath there is no life, without precise alignment there is no healing.

When leading the yoga practice, she looks at the client, more precisely the client body; their posture, body language, movement, spine alignment, weak/strong muscles, and incorporates those findings into precise yoga sequence. Paula's adage is: "There is no perfect yoga posture. There is only perfect posture for the body that is moving into it. It's so very individual."

She is known for her classes to be "fun, funky and powerful”. Her teaching practice will leaving you centred, stretched and re-focused. Paula teaches regular classes and private individuals across London, UK. She has been honoured with 200-hour and 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Diploma (like Bachelor of Arts, MA in the Yoga field!) with Simon Low and The Yoga Academy.
